FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We are working diligently with BCBSTX to get an in network agreement. Please check back announcement on our website or call our office at 281-758-1022 during business hour for status. We hope to have an answer very soon.
Q: What’s happening?
A: Memorial Hermann Health System has been negotiating with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas (BCBSTX) for new agreements that more appropriately cover the care our affiliated providers, as well as Memorial Hermann hospitals and facilities, deliver to patients with BCBSTX commercial (employer-sponsored) and Medicare Advantage health plans.
Despite Memorial Hermann’s diligent and tireless efforts to reach agreement prior to March 1, 2022, when our current contracts expired, BCBSTX has dropped Memorial Hermann from its network, effective March 1, 2022. This means that more than 265 of Memorial Hermann’s hospitals and care delivery sites, plus thousands of affiliated physicians and specialists, may no longer be in your network.
Can I do anything to maintain in-network access to Memorial Hermann?
A: We will continue to urge BCBSTX to work with us in good faith, but we can’t do it alone. Here’s what you can do to help:
- Call BCBSTX at the number on the back of your Member ID card. Let them know it’s important that you continue to have in-network access to Memorial Hermann’s broad network of care facilities, clinicians, and specialists.
- If you receive health insurance through your employer, speak with your benefits manager. Ask about alternative health plans that re-instate you’re in-network access to Memorial Hermann and its affiliated providers.
- If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan managed by BCBSTX, you may be able to switch health plans through March 31, 2022. Contact a trusted family member, or broker, to review alternative plans that include in-network access to Memorial Hermann.
